Hi, friends! Today I wanted to share a few updates that I’ve made to the living room. I haven’t posted about that room in awhile and it was needing a little bit of love. I’ve got more ORC updates for you tomorrow, so don’t fret!
A big “thank you” to Kohl’s and Mohawk Rugs for partnering with Little Red Brick House for this post. All designs and opinions are my own. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
My favorite way to refresh a space is with a new rug, curtains, or throw pillows. I snagged a few throw pillows for the sofa but was really wanting to replace the rug.
For a few months, I had a white fluffy rug in the living room but it did not hold up well to the pets and a certain nine year old boy. I know you’re probably thinking, “duh”, a white rug was a bad choice for a living room when you’ve got pets and kids. I thought I could make it work with our “no shoes and no food in the living room” rule, but alas, it seems the pups tracked in dirt from the backyard and someone must have sneaked a few snacks in there when I wasn’t looking.
I was scared to branch out of my neutral safety net, but I knew I needed something a little darker and I wasn’t really feeling the shaggyness of the previous rug anymore. With those parameters in mind, I set out in search of something new. This post contains affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
To my surprise, I learned that Kohl’s sells a large variety of rugs. Not just small accent rugs either but beautiful, full-size rugs. While I was perusing their site, I ran across the American Rug Craftsmen EverStrand Berkshire Paxton Ornamental rug. I love the color and the slight pattern. It’s not an overwhelming pattern but it’s just enough to add interest.
As much as I am in love with the look of the rug, my favorite part is how soft and plush it is. I’ve never felt a rug this comfortable. It is like heaven on your toes. I may or may not find myself making extra trips into the living room just to take a few steps across it.
Another quality that I really appreciate is how durable it is. Even after vacuuming a few times and with the dogs and kiddo playing on it, not one fiber has been shed. I hate rugs that slowly end up being eaten by the vacuum or you find pieces of them strewn around your house. This one delivers in the quality department.
I’m really happy I stepped out of my neutral comfort zone and chose something a little more bold. I think it adds just the right touch of color to the room. It helps tie in the blue from the throw pillows and the element of softness can’t be beat.
You can check out the extensive selection of rugs that Kohl’s has to offer. Which one is your favorite?
Check back tomorrow for another ORC update. It’s the last one before the big reveal day!
